Safety Regulations on Show Day
- Please do not exhibit animals that are out of control or hard to Handle.
- Animals should not be left unattended, tied to horse boxes or trailers.
- All animals must be led by a competent handler.
- Animals must be always under the strict control of the handler.

Specific Requirements – Horses and Other Equines
Premises Registration
• As from 1 May 2012, any premises (which includes shows, fairs, and markets) where horses or other equines are gathered must be registered with the Department.
• Owners/persons in charge of such gatherings are required to submit a completed application form for registration and to keep records of movements on/off their premises.
• Records must be retained for at least 3 years as they may be required by the Department for the purposes of tracing disease.
• Records required are: –
• The name and address of the owner/person in charge of the premises from which the equine came and
• The premises registration number from which the equine came and
• The Passport number/UEL number of the animal
Compliance With Equine Identification Rules—Keepers Must Have
• An equine registered with a PIO.
• A passport issued in accordance with EU and National legislation.
• Comply with the legislation whereby a passport must accompany the equine whenever it is moved to events such as shows, sales etc.

- Mare and foal classes 2 to 7 – €1000 per class.
Stinted or with foal at foot, stud cert for mares stinted by ID stallion.
Prizes: 1st €700, 2nd €400, 3rd €250, 4th €75, 5th €50 & 6th €25. Entry fee: €35.
ID colts & fillies off ID, AID and up-grade mares and by ID stallion.
All foals must be off dams entered in class 1 to be eligible.

Rules and conditions
- This competition is open to animals with the breed code ID, registered in the Irish Draught Horse Studbook (or a harmonised Irish Draught Studbook) with recorded breeding.
- If the foal’s passport is not to hand, the mare’s passport must be ready for inspection prior to entry to the judging ring.
- Foals must be led at all times and must be haltered or bridled correctly with a suitable lead rope.
- Foals must be led at all times.
- Passports and microchips (if applicable) should be read by a vet at the final.
- Two foals may qualify at each show, provided the judges and the I.S.A. agree the standard is high enough.
- The foal must be sired by a stallion who must be on the IDH judges list.
- Foals eligible to enter must not have been shown at any other final in 2025.
- The qualifying exhibitor must fill out their own qualifying card at each qualifying show.
These rules should be read in conjunction with the I.S.A. rules.

Rules and conditions
- This competition is open to animals with the breed code ID, registered in the Irish Draught Horse Studbook (or a harmonised Irish Draught Studbook) with recorded breeding.
- The competition is open to 1-year-old fillies by a sire that is classified as either class 1 or class 2 in the Irish Draught Horse Studbook.
- Two animals may qualify at each show. If the judges and the I.S.A. agree that the standard is high enough, the second prizewinner may be selected to compete in the final.
- Entries in the final are confined to animals that have qualified at the designated shows.
- Animals qualified for the final are not eligible to enter any other class at the show at which they qualify.
- The passport and (if applicable) the animal must be presented to the show secretary for inspection prior to entry to the judging ring. Failure to comply with this rule will lead to immediate disqualification.
These rules should be read in conjunction with the I.S.A. rules.
